Curriculum
Elida Tessler (Porto Alegre, Brazil, 1961)

Elida Tessler is a visual artist and professor retired at the Visual Art Department and in the Post-graduation Program of Visual Arts in the Arts Institute of the State University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). She took her Ph.D. in the Contemporary Art History at the Université de Paris I–Pantheon – Sorbonne, Paris (France), where she lived from 1988 to 1993.

Between 2009 and 2010, she took her Post-Doctoral degree at the-Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales and with the Center of Philosophy of Art – UFR de Philosophie – Université de Paris I – Pantheon – Sorbonne. She was a researcher of the CNPq (National Counsel of Technological and Scientific Development) from 2007 to 2017, developing research work on issues that involve art and literature related to the written words and visual imaging.

She was the founder, in 1993, and coordinated until 2009, together with Jailton Moreira, the Torreão, research and production Studio in contemporary art in Porto Alegre. She keeps a research group called “.p.a.r.t.e.s.c.r.i.t.a “., in which she articulates productionand critical reflection upon texts from artists and the presence of words in contemporary art productions. She published, with Manoel Ricardo de Lima the book Falas inacabadas – Objetos e um poema (2000).
