Attended the School of Architecture at Porto Alegre (1968/1972). After that, and until now, he fully dedicated himself to photography.
With a grant from Fulbright Commission (1984/1985), he worked under the supervision of Frederick Sommer, in Prescott, Arizona.
Since 1975 he has shown his work in more than 40 individual exhibitions as well as a great number of selected group shows.
He takes part, since its inauguration, in the MASP/Pirelli Collection of Photographs, the first collection of contemporary Brazilian photography held by a Brazilian museum.
Besides, his wok is represented in numerous collections around the world, both public and private.
He is author of the books O Relógio de Ver (“The Seeing Watch”, 2000) and IMAGO (2010), both a reunion of essays on photography, and of Luiz Carlos Felizardo (nº 3 of the SENAC Collection of Photography, 2004) and A Fotografia de Luiz Carlos Felizardo (2011) – released as part of the homage he received from FESTFOTO – International Festival of Photography, Porto Alegre.
Between the years of 2001 and 2011 he wrote a column on photography in the magazine APLAUSO, Porto Alegre.
