Curriculum
Jeanete Musatti (São Paulo, 1944)

Lives and works in Sao Paulo. Jeanete Musatti plays a unique role in the Brazilian contemporary art scenario. Her delicate architectures of remembrances, although born into a confessed autobiographic context, break up the chalk drawn circle of nostalgic chronic recited in first person. The work is threaded with past events at the very measure that this mesh serves to contextualize the present. The repository of elements that unfold sensations that travel two-way: from the individual to the collective and vice-versa. (…) The symbolic framework of Musatti´s work aims not only at those who keep the nerve of disagreement exposed against public and private violence but also, especially, a stimulus for those who put effort in the reconquering of internal territories at a deeper identity and sensitivity level. The sociological remark, also sociological, cultural and political, at a lower or higher degree of bitterness and forcefulness, makes itself present in the nuances of the intimism of surrealistic poetry. The artist , thus, becomes part of the fruitful lineage as Art History opened up by visual semantics of cubist collage and that, via Marcel Duchamp, shows itself as an essential bridge between modern art and contemporaneity: the assembly of symbolic nexuses, the links between art and ideas made up by the sum of elements apparently disconnected, the interpenetration of signs.(…) By articulating her kaleidoscopic miniature forms, Jeanete Musatti points out the immensity of the non said that dwells and conforms the pigeonholes of our being in the world.

She has already been in individual and collective exhibitions of high regard at important institutions such as the Municipal Art Center Hélio Oiticica (Rio de Janeiro), Pinacoteca of the State of Sao Paulo (Sao Paulo), Modern Art Museum of Bahia (Salvador), Art Museum of the Americas (Washington), Contemporary Art Wilfredo Lam (Havana), Art Palace (Belo Horizonte), Modern Art Museum (Rio de Janeiro), Art Palace (Sao Paulo), Sao Paulo Art Museum. Her artworks are part of public and private collections as the Rio de Janeiro Art Museum (MAR), Contemporary Art Museum of the Sao Paulo University Art Museum ("USP"), Rio de Janeiro Modern Art Museum, Niteroi Contemporary Art Museum (Rio de Janeiro), João Carlos Figueiredo Ferraz´s collection, Deutche Bank Museum.
